South African Betting Sites Compared

12 licensed sites, side by side. Checked on 6 November 2026.

This page compares the rules of the main licensed betting sites in South Africa, so you can see the costs and catches before you sign up.

Sites are in alphabetical order. We do not rank them, and no betting company pays us. "Not confirmed" means we could not find the fact on a page we could read, so check it on the site itself.

Betting is not a way to make money

Most bets lose, and over time the bookmaker wins. Betting cannot pay your bills or get you out of debt. Never bet money meant for rent, food or transport, and never bet to win back a loss.

What the law says

Online sports betting with a licensed bookmaker is legal. Whether bookmakers may offer casino-style games online is disputed between regulators. The National Gambling Board says these games are unlawful online. In October 2025 the Supreme Court of Appeal ruled against Gauteng-licensed bookmakers offering fixed-odds bets on casino games, and the Western Cape board says that ruling does not affect its licensees. No new law had passed when we checked.

Frequently asked questions

Which betting site is the best in South Africa?

We do not name one. Sites differ on deposits, withdrawals and limits, and none of them changes the main fact: most bets lose. Use the table to check the rules that matter to you, then confirm them on the site itself.

Can betting replace an income?

No. Most bets lose, and over time the bookmaker wins. Bonuses do not change that. If you need money this month, betting is the wrong place to look for it.

How do I check that a betting site is licensed?

Look for the licence number and board in the site's footer, then search for the operator on the National Gambling Board's list of verified operators. If you cannot find a licence, do not register.

Is online betting legal in South Africa?

Online sports betting with a licensed bookmaker is legal. Whether bookmakers may offer casino-style games online is disputed between regulators. This is general information and not legal advice.

What does a wagering requirement mean?

It is how many times you must bet a bonus before you can take it out. A R 50 bonus with a 10 times requirement means R 500 in bets. Most people never turn a bonus like that into money they can withdraw.

How can I stop betting?

Most sites let you take a break or exclude yourself in your account or by a form. You can also call the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation for free on 0800 006 008.
